By: Argie Bahillo
Last August 1, 2022, Distriphil conducted a special edition of Health Awareness Academy (HAA) with the initiative of Distriphil’s Human Resource and Organizational Development (HROD) department.
As part of the continued employee engagement initiatives of Distriphil, HAA empowers employees with basic knowledge on how they can keep themselves healthy and well. Previous topics of the Health Awareness Academy have covered conditions such as hypertension, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, eye health, hepatitis, burns, among many others. Our speaker for this special edition webinar is DISTRIPHIL’s Head of Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Dr. CJ Amil.
Monkeypox is a disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, the virus that causes smallpox. Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder, and monkeypox is rarely fatal.
Dr. Amil discussed the origin of the said disease and its different types. He also discussed the sign and symptoms of monkeypox and how it differs from flu or COVID-19. Part of his presentation also includes how monkeypox spread and how to protect ourselves from getting the virus.
This topic is very relevant now these days in accordance with our government’s continues initiative in preventing this communicable disease.
