As part of its commitment to support the delivery of relevant and high-quality continuing medical education (CME) activities, DISTRIPHIL has partnered with the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Inc. (PAFP) for an online CME activity entitled “Patient-centered, Family-focused, Community-Oriented Approach to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.” The online activity was conducted last September 14, 2020.

The PAFP is the specialty organization of primary care physicians in the Philippines and is one of the largest medical societies in the country. After the inspiring opening message of the PAFP President Dr. Maria Victoria Pilares-Cruz, the informative lecture was delivered by Dr. Noel Laxamana, FPAFP. Dr. Laxamana is the head of the Department of Family and Community Medicine of Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center. The online CME activity was attended by over 500 participants across the country.

A fruitful and engaging open forum followed the lecture, moderated by Dr. Martha Jane Pauline S. Umali. Dr. Christian James Amil, Medical Affairs Manager of DISTRIPHIL, delivered a brief presentation on Prostera® and Frepan®. Prostera® is a brand of Terazosin HCl dihydrate, a prescription drug used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, while Frepan® is a brand of Candesartan cilexetil, a prescription drug used to treat essential hypertension. Both Prostera® and Frepan® are brands from Sandoz®: A Novartis Company, and are exclusively marketed and distributed in the Philippines by DISTRIPHIL. Ms. Karen Ocampo, DISTRIPHIL Brand Manager also shared about DISTRIPHIL Pharmacy and how it provides convenience to patients through its door-to-door delivery service.

This CME activity is the second installment of the CME activities of the PAFP presented in partnership with DISTRIPHIL. The first webinar on “Patient-centered, Family-focused, Community-Oriented Approach to Hypertension” was conducted last August 3, 2020 with Dr. Ramon Jason Javier, Department Head of Preventive and Community Medicine of UERM Memorial Medical Center as speaker. This activity was attended by over 300 participants.
